National Electric Wheelchair Sports
The National Electric Wheelchair Sports (N.E.W.S) is specifically for people who use electric wheelchairs for their everyday mobility and have a neuromuscular condition.
N.E.W.S is the showcase for electric wheelchair sports in Australia. It is a unique annual event which displays the all round skills of each athlete in all three sports of hockey, balloon soccer and rugby league.
Competing teams come from the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and, in the past, New Zealand.
These games are playing in a highly competitive atmosphere and have been played every year since the first N.E.W.S in 1986.
Each year a team of six players is selected out of the Saturday League to represent Western Australia at the annual N.E.W.S.
